About this film

Sato, a middle-aged salaryman left behind in a rapidly changing society and living a dull, uneventful life, takes refuge from a torrential downpour at a demolition site. The moment he touches a discarded folding screen, he is drawn into a different world of Japanese painting, where animals reminiscent of the Choju-giga scrolls and sumi-e (ink painting) monsters come alive. From a monochrome reality to a world where color and sound rise. Without dialogue, this short animation depicts the moment of forgotten excitement revived through sound centered on gagaku (Japanese court music) and taiko drums, and seamless transitions.
