What happens when the last child on Earth is raised by a machine? What if the humans who abandoned her suddenly return fifteen years later? And what if they never came back to save her? After a meteor catastrophe leaves Earth uninhabitable, humanity escapes into space. Among the ruins, an old caretaker robot awakens and discovers a surviving baby girl buried beneath the wreckage. With no knowledge of why humanity disappeared—or why this child survived—the robot raises her alone on a dead world. As the years pass, the girl grows older and begins repairing and upgrading the machine that once protected her. Then, twenty years later, human ships return. But they do not see her as a survivor. They see her as the successful result of an experiment—and the key to reclaiming Earth. To save the girl he raised, the robot must disobey humanity for the first time and use the strength she gave him against the people who created him. Because she was never just a test subject. She was his child. The Last Child is an original post-apocalyptic science-fiction short film about family, freedom, sacrifice, and what it truly means to be human.
